Joey AI is not a licensed veterinarian. Always consult a qualified vet for medical decisions.
If your dog is collapsed, struggling to breathe, bleeding heavily, seizing, has a swollen or hard abdomen, is trying to vomit without producing anything, or has swallowed a known poison — go to an emergency veterinary hospital now. Do not wait for an AI response.
1. What Joey AI is
Joey AI is an informational and organisational tool for dog owners. It helps you understand what you are seeing, decide how urgently to act, keep a health history in one place, and arrive at appointments prepared.
2. What Joey AI is not
Joey AI does not practise veterinary medicine. Specifically, it does not and cannot:
- Diagnose any disease, injury, or condition;
- Prescribe, dispense, or adjust any medication or dosage;
- Establish a veterinarian–client–patient relationship;
- Provide emergency response, or summon veterinary help on your behalf;
- Replace physical examination, imaging, or laboratory testing.
No output from Joey AI is a veterinary opinion, prescription, or medical record, and none of it should be treated as one by you, your vet, an insurer, or any regulatory body.
3. How to read triage levels
Joey sorts situations into four levels. They describe how soon to seek professional care. They are not diagnoses, and they are not a clearance to skip a vet.

A "Routine" or "Monitor" result is Joey's read of limited information. It is never a substitute for your own judgement about the animal in front of you. If your instinct says something is wrong, act on that instinct and call your vet.
4. Limits you should assume
Joey AI is powered by a large language model, and like all such systems it can be confidently wrong. Please assume the following at all times:
- Photo scans are limited. A photograph cannot convey temperature, smell, texture, pain response, or what lies beneath the skin. Lighting and image quality materially change what a scan can see.
- Output depends on your input. Joey works from the breed, weight, age, medications, and history in your dog's profile. Incomplete or out-of-date information produces less reliable guidance.
- It can be wrong. Joey may miss a serious condition or over-state a harmless one. Never let a reassuring answer delay care you would otherwise have sought.
- It is dog-only. Joey is built for dogs. Do not apply anything it says to cats, rabbits, birds, or any other species — toxicity and dosage differ profoundly between species.
- It is not monitored in real time. No person reviews your conversation as it happens. Joey cannot escalate an emergency for you.
5. Food and diet information
Diet and meal-plan guidance in the app is general reference material. What is safe depends on the amount eaten, your dog's body weight, breed, age, existing conditions, and ingredients that may not be visible in a prepared dish.
If your dog has eaten something you are worried about, contact your veterinarian or an animal poison helpline immediately, and tell them what was eaten, roughly how much, and when.
Never induce vomiting unless a veterinarian has told you to. With some substances it causes far more harm than the substance itself.
6. Medications
Medication and interaction features are reference aids for medicines that have already been prescribed to your dog by a veterinarian. They do not authorise, recommend, or adjust any treatment.
Never give your dog human medication, and never change a prescribed dose based on anything Joey AI says. Speak to your prescribing vet first.
7. Your responsibility
You remain solely responsible for your dog's care and for every decision you make about it. By using Joey AI you accept that you will use it as one input among several — alongside professional veterinary advice — and never as your only source of guidance.
